The Real Maverick

If one of your favorite skaters of all time is Neil Blender, you can float around in my boat, bring beer, and the bait. He was the real Maverick!

I shot this lofty ollie in the Del Mar Skate Ranch Keyhole during practice for a contest in '85 or so.

It was and is amazing to witness Neil maneuver his long and lanky form through the air and around the pool.

Maverick!

I love that 'streetstyle' contest were Neil busts out the spray can and tags a wall in the middle of his run!

I always thought he looked like Spock from Star Trek.

growing up in Nebraska (did not attend the midwest Melee) and never meeting Neil Everrrrrr, I always thought I had a near perfect skate-a-like in ol' kw his'self. I'm sure kevin completely disagrees but for a tall lenky guy he always has ripped the lip.
