Found Objects
I was at a photo workshop a couple of summers ago and shooting with some photogs out in the desert and started on a quest for bones and skulls and found an intact spine of some animal. I was very proud of my great find. I'm easy to please. My wife has this habit of finding jewelry and gems wherever she is, it's kinda weird. She found an $11,000 diamond ring. She found a pink jewell at Obama's Inauguration the other day. I wish she would find a winning lotto ticket.

B.I.K.E.
Urban bicycle documentary featuring Black Label. Tall bike jousting, critical mass, freedom, love, and anarchy. Often seen on Sucka Pants (Tod Seelie's website).
I've contacted The Ross about bringing the film in, but haven't heard anything back yet. I may end up having a screening at D Street in the near future.

oath
i've never been so excited to hear someone take the oath of office.
from wiki:
"Although not present in the text of the Constitution, it has become a standard practice for modern presidents to add "so help me God" at the end of the oath."

i was hoping we could skip the god part this time.

I know I'm a little late on this one
I posted this on another blog 2 years ago. It was worth a revisit.
MLK day. Not just a day off of work. At the Yerba Buena Gardens in SF, there's a section that acts as a tribute to him. Panels of his words underneath a waterfall. Some of them blew me away. I had never really read anything but the I have a dream speech. The ammount of vision he had at that time. Very inspiring stuff. I hope we can all dig around a bit to read some of his words this week. As I was digging around, it got a bit depressing that several web addresses bearing his name led to porn sites or even racist sites. May I suggest this one as a great spot to do some reading.
click on the photo for a larger version that's easier to read.
Inauguration
Here you’ll find 22 inauguration speeches, starting with McKinley’s 1901 address. There’s some great footage in this series of videos.
Along similar lines, The New York Times has posted an interactive feature that covers every inaugural address. You can read the full text of each speech, and see which words and ideas were most widely used within each text. It’s a quick way to see what issues mattered most during a given historical moment. Start with George Washington’s address here.
Here is FDR’s 1933 address, which helped America move with a little more confidence through another difficult time. It’s the speech that gives us “There’s nothing to fear but fear itself,” a kind of prelude to “Yes we can.”
Here’s to new beginnings...

fixxin for a booze run
I make a booze run every Friday am.
I walk into Coyul and I think of the movie leaving las Vegas..
just a guy walking down the rows tossin bottles into the cart.
Wholesale markets rock, and knowing where they are, well, it's good for you, and your buddies pocket book.
24 pacifico bottles = 135 pesos. ( gotta have your empties though)
the rate right now 13 - 1
hmm box of bottles for 10 bucks us.. not to shabby.
you might amaze yourself at how many bottles you can put away if they are just sitting there waiting for you...
Vice Presidential Handlers Lure Cheney Into Traveling Crate
January 13, 2009
WASHINGTON—A team of nine specially trained handlers have successfully lured outgoing vice president Dick Cheney into a reinforced steel traveling crate in order to transport him back to his permanent enclosure in Casper, WY, official sources reported Monday. "He's a smart one. Once he sees the crate, he gets pretty nippy, but we've learned a few tricks over the years," chief VP wrangler Ted Irving breathlessly said while applying pressure to a deep gash on his forearm. "If we break a rabbit's legs and throw it in there, he will eventually go in to finish it off. Doesn't work with dead rabbits, though. Cheney only eats what he kills." Irving said that the latest vice presidential relocation went much more smoothly than September's diplomatic trip to Georgia, which was delayed for several hours after Cheney mauled three secret service agents and escaped inside the White House walls

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
thats right, its my little brothers birthday today!
Jan 15th also marks the day that i got destroyed by a drunk driver in a van while i was riding my bike 6 years ago, good times! 6 years sense i've skateboarded with out pain from a broken femur that healed wrong as a result of the health care system working so well that i was turned away from the ER when it happened.
GOD BLESS AMERICA & HAPPY BIRTHDAY RYAN!!
this last photo is a full year after it all happened, took 2 years for the internal bleeding to absorb back into my body. no fun, no fun at all.
TODAY WE LIVE. thank god.
