I came across this interesting article the other day that sort of answered my curiosity of how every photo of any president looks so well lit.

I've never been to this event, but gotta pencil it in for next year. Looks like a blast. Wilhelm was there and I'm excited to hear a story or two. Historically, the winner isn't the first person to cross the finish line. It's all about having a great time on the bike. Maybe we can borrow a few ideas for our Lincoln cross races coming up.

Join me and about 10 others to dance to great Motown, disco and other great dancing tunes at my apartment (large living room). Each week one of us can 'lead' the song or songs for about about an hour. If it sounds cheesey, or awkward don't worry, it is. But it's also honest, and fun.
I will guide us through the first night and then the music will carry us forward.
Get sweaty, have fun and we'll share a tea or glass of wine after.

I am cursed with the burden of having election day occur within the week of my birthday. For every presidential election I can recall has gone hand in hand with the smell of extinguished birthday candles. I watched them steal it from the American people four years ago. Now is our time ! No hate...no stereotypes... we have a chance to change the course of our history at this very moment! Where were you? Are you ready? The House and the Senate are ours and now is no time to rest on our Haunches. We need to convey our thoughts, hopes and dreams to our elected officials as has been the process since our great country was concieved. It will not be easy, especially for low income bike nerds, but this is our chance. In the words of Bruce Sringstein " We Gotta Check Our Short Attention Span On This One". It will not always be hundreds of thousands of people cheering in Grant Park. We need to make sacrifices and embrace all of our fellow countrymen and countrywomen. This is our chance to make a name for our generation that our children and their children can be proud of. Don't hate! It is gonna' suck a whole lot worse b4 it gets better but now is our time to dispel the climate of apathy and take back what is rightfully ours as American citiczens. Tabloids, Pundits, Lobbyists.... FUCK 'EM. Don't hate Replicans we need them and everyone to stand together and make this our time to prove what we are really all about. Make sacrifices and go out of your way to ensure that we are not defined by this election but by our subsequint deeds that make this the greatest time in our nations history!

And Obama Wins
As soon as I heard Jon Stewart announce the winner, the fireworks began going off in my neighborhood. Then my neighbor Travis and I rolled down to Duffy's on our bikes just in time to hear Obama's speech. They were playing it on the street through loud speakers. We went inside and everyone was glued to the screens, completely quiet. I had to whisper to Chandra what we wanted for drinks because it was so quiet in the bar.
Alex commented to me later at Bricktop, he's never been in the bar when everyone has shut up like that to hear something.
I agree.
I'm just happy, NO MORE BUSH!

schwinn cycle (flatbed) truck
I took my 1945 Schwinn Cycle Truck and took off the basket and turned it into a flat bed truck, for sure my favorite bike, in the family for over 60 years.
TransIowa v.5 registration will open soon...
It's time for TransIowa v.5 registration... Well, almost. Guitar Ted has announced the details of registration for the 2009 event, which is limited to the first 75 entrants, and prior competitors have the first shot at entry slots, so if you want to get in, you've gotta' be on the stick.
TransIowa is the grandaddy of Midwest gravel grinders. The one time I tried it, last year, I failed to make it past the first checkpoint. It's a massive test of endurance, fitness, preparation and persistence. It's not to be taken lightly and if I know one thing about TransIowa, it's that luck is as much a factor in my ability to finish the race as anything I can do to prepare for the race -- it's just that heinous of a race. That's why I must have another shot at it in 2009.
