Connections

For a couple of years kw's family has kept me subscribed to the music publication Waxpoetics where fellow Husker, Carter VanPelt, regularly contributes about reggae culture. The current issue (No34) mixes two of my favorite things, skateboarding and music, for the first time. Many of you GP readers may already know Seb Carayol but he was new to me until I read his article, connecting Stereo Skateboards' A Visual Sound with the soon-to-not-be-rare Ululation album by John Krasnow, used for much of its soundtrack.
The article not only got my learn on, but has me stoked for the release of Ululation and the previously unreleased Ululation 2. With song names like Borderline Case, Hunca Munca, and Song Without Mayo, who wouldn't be stoked?

In Rainbows Animations

In March 2008, aniBoom and Radiohead's TBD Records held a contest inviting fans and animators to make a video for any song on the album "In Rainbows".

You can see the 4 winning videos that the band picked in the above clip.

Saw it on CoolHunting (and yes I realize it's old).

Wednesdays Wit Reda and The Faint

Last week's Wednesdays With Reda turned into this week's six-part backstage epic with Omaha's own The Faint.

The Berrics is so much killing it so much right now.

P.S. Faint's last show of their current US tour is this Saturday at Sokol.

Their Lives In The Bush Of Ghosts (Byrne Quad Play!)

"Having abandoned the idea of retreating into the Mojave, Brian and I settled into El Dorado studio in LA, where we were told Frank Sinatra had worked sometimes. We stayed on Vermont, in what is now Koreatown, I think. Prairie Prince, of the Tubes, joined us for a few days, playing drums, percussion and odds and ends. Our own percussive efforts made interesting sounds- using cardboard boxes and cases- but sometimes we lacked precise time."
