My April

I'm trying a little experiment. I am video documenting each day of my life this April, my birth month. This video chronicles my life from last week (April 1-5). Each event displayed is presented chronologically and each day is represented by 8 seconds of footage. Sometimes a day feels like a blur of exciting activity or to do lists, others are chill or uneventful. This is My Week. This is the beginning of My April.

Can't front on that

Beasties performing "So Whatcha Want" on Arsenio Hall with DJ Hurricane and Cypress Hill.

My favorite album ever, Check Your Head (1992) by Beastie Boys, is being remastered and reissued.

All y'all will able to download the remastered classic, produced by Mario Caldato Jr. and recorded at G-Son Studios (with the parkay floor), via the Beastie Boys' website come next Monday (March 30). A few other versions will be available for pre-order as well, including a 180 gram quadruple-vinyl set, wrapped in a coffee-table book case and limited to 2000 copies. Noice!

The release of this album, some 17 years ago, marks a very significant period of productive groundswell for the Beastie Boys. It was around this time that they established their record label and magazine, Grand Royal, along with their involvment in the X-Large clothing shop. They chose to forgo expensive L.A. studio time in favor of building their own recording space slash office playground. G-Son studio, complete with basketball court and skate ramp, was located in Atwater Village, CA. -->Extended friendly Beastie footnotes of this time period (and beyond) include more than one individual contributor of this, the Good Problem blog.

Recently, Mike and Adam and Adam confirmed that they'll be throwing a show at the Hollywood Bowl early this coming fall. Look for more dates as the weeks progress as they also plan on dropping a new album this year titled "Tadlocks Glasses." If you have never seen them live, you've never really had fun at a concert.

p.s. You can play this song at my funeral.

While Detroit Slept

"Our bailout of Detroit will be remembered as the equivalent of pouring billions of dollars of taxpayer money into the mail-order-catalogue business on the eve of the birth of eBay." —Thomas Friedman in the NYT

Honest Opinion

(From actual Craigslist Rants and Raves posting - Montreal)

I am very disappointed in our Montreal police

I drove home so drunk on Saturday night. At one point, I was driving on the opposite side of the highway, headed the wrong way, until I drove back over the at the next break in the median.

I don't quite remember getting home, but I DO remember people honking like crazy and flashing their high beams at me while I was on the wrong side of the highway.

I don't know who or what I hit, but my passenger side was all scrapped to hell and my side mirror was missing. I must have side swiped some cars somewhere. I don't know.

I remember pulling over to the side of the highway while I tried to find my address in my GPS, because I had no idea where the hell I was going. I remember going 190km/h at one point.

Granted, it was like 2am, but still. I drove home from a house party in Laval to my apartment in Montreal, completely wasted.

I barely remember the ride home, and how I have 5.5k worth of damage on my car (thats 1/3 of what the fucking thing is worth)

I blame the Laval, Montreal and SQ police. If you idiots had a better presence on our highways and city streets, I would have woken up in a detox room, but no, because of you assholes, I now have all these repairs to do to my car.

Way to go dickheads...

Dance Party every week at my home

Need to get active at least once a week? Are you a closet great dancer? Do you have an outlet for your passion?

Join me and about 10 others to dance to great Motown, disco and other great dancing tunes at my apartment (large living room). Each week one of us can 'lead' the song or songs for about about an hour. If it sounds cheesey, or awkward don't worry, it is. But it's also honest, and fun.

I will guide us through the first night and then the music will carry us forward.

Get sweaty, have fun and we'll share a tea or glass of wine after.

This is going out to people of ages between 25 - 55!

Email me with questions. I am really just wanting a couple of folks to dance up a Motown storm with once or twice a week.
