H2Omaha — Thursday Night Was All Right
A great event -- H2Omaha did a fabulous job of putting on a first-class event for the US Olympic Swim Trials. It was such a production that it literally brought past Olympians to tears with its quality. That's something the community of Omaha, and the entire State of Nebraska can, and should, take pride in. Geez... I'm starting to sound like an old guy now, aren't I? Well dagnabit, it's true ... This here geezer says, "it's purdy good."
And here we all are, enjoying the festivities ... Looks like Carrie caught me snapping a pic of the group. Hi Carrie!! (That's Laura's sister, BTW ...)
This would be Michael Phelps in lane four, on his way to decimating semifinal 1 in the 200m medley. Unfortunately, his time was about a half second slower than semifinal 2 winner, Ryan Lochte. For Phelps to take the gold in the final, he's gonna' have to step it up.
Phew. We made it. A little late, but no harm, no foul. As we arrived, the Star Spangled Banner was playing. Not a moment late, but without a moment to spare—G-style, babee. Is there any other way to be?Laura and I had tickets, along with her parents and sister's family, to the US Olympic Swim Trials at the Quest Center in Omaha earlier tonight, and it was super sweet. No world records were broken, but some pretty fast times were set, and a great time was had by all. I'll let the pictures do most of the talking, but I will say this, Michael Phelps got beaten by about a half-second in the 200 medley semifinals, and it wasn't even a head-up race. The finals will prove to be an all-out war, I suspect. Man, whoever has tickets for that one is gonna' see a good race.
Swimming is pretty cool. It's summer. Easy to get into swimmin' in summer. Sorta' like ridin' bikes, which is what MW and I will be doing at 7am tomorrow. Wanna' join us? Be at my place at that time. Or give me a shout and let me know where we need to pick ya' up at. Word is it'll be a southeast wind. I've gotta' be back around 1pm and so does m-dub. So that's the timeframe.
You in? Hope so.
