another mj quote

Director Martin Scorcese lent his gangster expertise to Jackson's "Bad" video. Scorcese remembers, "Michael Jackson was extraordinary. When we worked together ... I was in awe of his absolute mastery of movement on the one hand, and of the music on the other. Every step he took was absolutely precise and fluid at the same time. It was like watching quicksilver in motion. He was wonderful to work with, an absolute professional at all times ... a true artist. It will
be a while before I can get used to the idea that he's no longer with us."

Not your parents mtn bike trails

My friend Mike and I were talking recently about how we are both better at jumping our bikes at age 36 than we were at 14. This is all in part due to the mtn bike trails we have been priviledged to ride around our town. Now with the creation of some new xc trails with names like Funner and Old Dirty Pirate (featured below) it is time to step up my game once again. The 2nd video is the latest feature on the ODP, I will not be trying any time soon.

Shameless Self Promotion

After a short delay it's back on. Stereo honored me by making 2 boards and shirt with my photos on them. Deluxe is hosting the party at their shop and Adidas will be providing a copy of their new Europe team video, with a sick Dennis Busenitz part. Many thanks to Stereo for their years of support.

Steel Horse Down!

Moved to the Bay and my first excursion into the city, my ride gets jacked! Give it back, SF... pretty please?

it is rough being the 1st loser

messing with people is fun

A bunch of fun-loving tomfoolers hold an annual event they call LobsterFest, which involves “comically harassing a Red Lobster restaurant and then seeing if they will be willing to serve us afterwards.”

Burnside credability

I never thought my 2 1/2 year old daughter would bring me street cred at Burnside amongst the hardcore locals, but she did. Rarely do I go to Portland without my skate, but it seems like my wheels don't hit the ground at Burnside unless it's 8AM or really sunny. Two rare occurrences. Last weekend kw's dad, molly and me went to view a drizzly Friday night session, where guys were absolutely killing it. Amongst the throng of Milwaukee's Best sippers, perched atop grandpa's shoulders, little old molly became the crowd favorite with her enthusiastic cheers and claps. While asking me, "did you see those boys skateboarding papa"? "Yes I did honey... yes I did".

Anyone wanna point me in the direction of the nearest employment? I'd love to hear meet you in real life.

Lincoln Continental Road Journal

"We are in The Coffee House in Lincoln, Nebraska, in our kit. It’s 6:30 am and still dark outside.
"It’s also just begun to rain — harder.
"

Read the rest of Daniel Wakefield Pasley's road journal from Rapha's Lincoln-to-Ponca ride — complete with a short film and photos of our wet-then-dry-then-very-long day — at the Rapha web site.

Summer Path

Cruising down the path to summer fun and adventure! Nothing like a good skate down a long mellow hill, with manhole covers and curb-cuts to ollie over and out of. Get that after work session in, it'll be worth it. You old geezer.

Picked up a pair of tickets to The Jesus Lizard at The Fillmore in San Francisco October 17. VERY GOOD PROBLEM!!

it's still thursday where i live

Pretty great couple of weeks for bicycle fun. First the 1st ever Bend Bike Film Fest was held and I was fortunate enough to have a short film included. Then the fourth annual Kegerator Cruiser Crawl, 5 stops and a potluck finish. Then I took my little girl to see a little bit of a mtn bike race, The Picketts Charge. At a place that is 8 or 9 miles from the start deep in the woods, but the trail junction is really close to a paved road. There were a few out of town riders surprised to see us.

Alice in Wonderland

I used to listen to this in my fort on my transistor radio.

Wicked Bus

My buddy Dennis from Iowa drove his VW Bus to Emporia, Kansas a couple of weeks ago for a bike race. The temperatures were a bit more than the bus could handle, so he had to go 45 mph the whole way to Emporia.

Rollin' in style at 45. Good problem.
