Step One

You might have heard me say it before, but there are some group rides that are made for listening to music. Not all of them, of course, but every once in a while ...
It's a silly wish, but between all the talking and joking and pedaling, sometimes it'd be nice to hear a few background jammys.
I've half-ass therorized for years about zero gravity speakers that float in front of everybody, pied piper-ing us down the MOPAC, or the sound projection system that pushes the music into the air ahead of a group for all to enjoy. Yes, that would be sweet.
More realistic, but still kind of a fantasy, is the lightweight sound system that attatches to your bike much the same way a light or computer does. Bass would be hard to come by, but with strategicly placed wires, some Mr. Science soldering, and some patience it'd probably work. Right?
"Sure," we said aloud, thinking at the same time, "It'll never happen."
Now this: (via cyclingnews.com) the M2 Racer Wrap and Roll.
No more excuses, I guess.

Yo,

You'd be sportin' some serious Hesh stylee but why not strap an old but gold boom box to a front rack with a few tight bungies, somethin' medium sized maybe, purchase that mount for your ipod, then hook it up. Blast down the MOPAC and throw back some cold ones.

Sounds kinda complicado and delicate now that I think about it. Ne'er mind.

I can't wait until we are all cyborgs and we can just tell everyone we're with to link up to our inner ear sound system. Then we could all listen to the same frequency.

I wanna be a free walking robot. now.
