FREEDOM OF SPACE: SKATEBOARD CULTURE AND THE PUBLIC SPACE
Friday, May 26th - 7:00pm at The Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center
A Documentary by Steve Olpin
$2.00 Admission
Shot around the globe, including Lincoln and Omaha with local skateboarders, Freedom of Space provides a look at the culture of skateboarding, street skating and use of public space. Interviews include long-time skateboarder and original Burnside builder Kent Dahlgren; Justin Hindery; The Skateboard Mag’s Kevin Wilkins; 12-year old skate advocate Patrick Craddock; the mayor of Portland, Tom Potter; Love Park’s urban architect Edmund Bacon and many more.

Co-sponsored by MRRMAC, Tugboat Gallery, Precision Skateboards, Fuel TV, The Skateboard Mag, PS Stix, and Watson Laminates

Following the Freedom of Space screening, a reception will be taking place at Lincoln's Tugboat Gallery featuring an auction of 40 hand painted skateboards by local and international artists.

All proceeds will go toward the Lincoln Public Skatepark fund.

THIS JUST IN:

There's a nice piece on the documentary and the board auction on Omaha City Weekly's website.

And of course the Journal Star's L. Kent Wolgamott has our collective back.
