Do any of you remember when you were totally confused about who Dr. Dre was. Because it seemed impossible that this super fat guy on Yo MTV Raps was capable of spitting out the words "nothing but a g- thang", let alone posessing the attitude necesaary to be in a group called N.W.A. Just to put it to rest, this Dre was a former DJ for the Beastie Boys and MTV VJ. Currently residing in the "Where Are They Now" category, I can assure you he has not totally faded from our memories.

I knew THIS Dre first and still like him best due to my after school routine of "YO" every weekday. Along with Ed Lover he gave me my initial education in all things dope. I'd like to shake his hand and tell him thanks.
I too was captivated by Yo! MTV Raps with Ed Lover, Fab Five Freddy and Dr. Dre back in the day. I was into rap like most of you fellas were into punk. Growing up in rural Ohio on the outskirts of Cleveland, rap music was the most original and energetic music that I had ever heard. I got hooked easily.
Yo! was my only escape from the typical MTV rotation of fuckin' shit. Well, that and 120 minutes. I'm not 100% sure who came first, but Dr. Dre from Yo! was the original Dr. Dre in my book.
FYI, NWA's Straight Outa Compton came out in 1988 and Yo! premiered in August 1988.
I'd like to thank Dre, Ed, FFF and Ted Demme for offering something different and refreshing. But I would also like to back hand pimp slap Dre and Ed Lover for beating a dead horse with the Ed Lover dance and whatever album Dre sampled for the Ed Lover dance. That shit got old. Geez...
I crossed over to hip hop from heavy metal after this video.
It was all over after that. "Me, Myself, and I" from De La Soul, "Bonita Applebaum" from Tribe Called Quest, and "The Choice is Yours" from Black Sheep got a lot of play when my parents weren't around.
Youtube is awesome...
"Soul by the Pound" from early Common (Sense).
"Jeep Ass N" from Masta Ace.
"Runnin" from The Pharcyde.
the golden era
This fatty is on fresh prince of bel air as a fake doctor and will calls him Dr dre. Very confusing
The song Boys N Tha Hood buzzed in Los Angeles like in at least1986 or 87
I have no idea who " Doctor Dre " is, I've always known THE Dr. Dre. The producer, but everybody had different childhoods so to me he's the OG.
