Roots of Orchis and The Cyclocross Meeting

IMG_1891
This past Sunday Roots of Orchis reunited to play a show before my San Francisco screening of The Cyclocross Meeting. While they played I projected some uncut Super 8 reels I shot in Providence, RI, and Belgium, back in 05'/06'. Roots...did a large portion of the soundtrack, and even though they aren't playing together regularly, they released a final album and it can be downloaded HERE. This was all part of the Bicycle Film Festival, which is jamming through it's 10th successful year.

trip to desert recap - 3

Pulled up camp at 18rd and headed over to Grand Junction for some riding at the Lunch Loops. New bmx track and dirt jump area installed ... looking good and well used. We'd heard of a new loop near the outside edge of the established trails area, so we headed for it. The Gunny Loop is a mixed bag of trail types. techy rock areas, climbs, flowy bermed turny dip dee doos, and flat-out fast straight rippers.

trip to desert recap - 2

On Saturday, DA and I did a big loop from Rabbit Valley, south into Utah, and back around via Kokopeli and the Western Rim trails. I love this loop and I've done it a few times. There are definitely moments when you wonder if you're making the right decisions at the intersections, but we quickly gained confidence once the terrain looked familiar again. We did scout and double back a few times.

trip to desert recap - 1

Drove out to Fruita, Rabbit Valley, and Grand Junction, Colorado, last weekend. Friday we rode the end of the Edge Loop ... basically from camp to the waterfall. The waterfall would be amazing with water in it. We did the ride as an out and back.
