DIY Fusion

I read an inspiring article over at gizmodo today.  It's about 2 science dudes, one that was government funded and very close to a breakthrough in fusion based enrgy.  And another self funded non-scientist who picked up where the first guy left off.
It reminded me a lot of being a in a punk band in high school, we had no idea how to make music, but that part didn't concern us, we were gonna make music anyway.
I guess it's different cuz this guy is trying to solve one of the world's biggest problems, and  I just wanted to hear some music other than paula abdul, but the guiding principle was the same for both of us.

who's talking to who?

i posted this on the mtbr endurance racing forum, but also wanted to share it here. my TI race number (shown on my helmet) is the same as my Kanza race number from last weekend. WEIRD EH? i'm guessing JimC and Joel saw the TI roster. did anyone else have this coincidence?

In-Store Music

Ever listen to the music they pump out at the grocery store, the dentist office, the consumer electronics warehouse? I do, and usually it makes me want to quicken up and leave quicker. Maybe that's the point.

But when I walked into the shop yesterday, they were playing The Minutemen and I swear to Allah, I couldn't leave. I wanted to sit there, not go back to work, just listen, and spend all my money on small parts.

So in celebration of that feeling, I invite you to skip work a little bit on this beautiful Friday and nod your head to the greatest band of all frickin' time.
